More about SDS

Safety data sheets shall contain information under the following 16 obligatory headings:

1. Identification of the substance/preparation and company
  • trade name of the product or designation used in the labeling
  • name of the manufacturer, full address and telephone number
  • an emergency telephone number
2. Composition/information on ingredients
  • the substance or preparation (components that are classified as dangerous to health or the environment)
  • EC, CAS-numbers for these substances
  • classification of the product (dangerous, sensitising)
  • concentration or concentration range
  • risk phrases
3. Hazards identification
  • most important dangerous properties of the product
4. First-aid measures
  • first aid measures
  • different routes of exposures
5. Fire-fighting measures
  • suitable extinguishing media
  • special hazards
6. Accidental release measures
  • personal precautions
  • environmental precautions
  • cleaning up methods
7. Handling and storage
  • precautions for safe handling
  • conditions for safe handling
8. Exposure controls / Personal protection
  • engineering measures
  • specific control parameters, limit values

9. Physical and chemical properties

  • proper method of disposal of product residues and packaging
14. Transport information
  • UN number, class
  • proper shipping name
  • packaging group
  • an indication if product classified as a Marine Pollutant or not
